1500 Year Old Cave
Phaseolus vulgaris
Ancestor of the Anasazi bean, this vigorous bean has tasty slender green pods and is also used as a dry bean. Found in a cave in New Mexico and carbon dated to 1500 years, it has a rich nutty flavour and is great in soups and stews or as refried beans.
