Cannellini

Phaseolus vulgaris

An old heirloom Italian bean used for both shelling and as a winter dry bean. These white kidney-shaped seeds make delicious baked beans and are used in the Tuscany region of Italy for hearty minestrone soup. They are easy to grow and very prolific with a distinctive nutty flavour. This variety first appeared in America in the 1800s.
