Montezuma Red

Phaseolus vulgaris

This bean was being grown by the First Nations people when Cortez first arrived in Mexico. The variety was found in 3,000 year old pre-historic tombs. A prolific and tasty bean that is easy to grow with good disease resistance, the compact plant has dark mahogany seeds and makes a great addition to chili, soups and stew.
